A4 festival by the lake WEB 001

Tickets now on sale at Eventbrite, also from Trinity Wholefoods and the Hastings Tourist Information Centre.

We return for another day of music, food, swimming and cameraderie in the beautiful surroundings of Ashburnham Place, Nr Battle, TN33 9NF.

This year we will be formally launching Hastings as a Community of Sanctuary, part of the national City of Sanctuary Network.  We aim to bring people together across cultures and communities in a demonstration of the kind of values we want our locality, and indeed humanity, to have.

  • Building a culture of hospitality and welcome – the values that underpin City of Sanctuary will underpin our event.
  • Eating together – everyone is invited to share in a communal picnic, bring food, brings friends, make new friends.
  • Music – along with food, nothing brings people together like music. We already have the support of top jazz musicians Gwyneth Herbert, Ian Shaw and Liane Carroll, with more to come.
  • Activities – the day will be full of activities for all ages with workshops, discussions and children’s activities. We will repeat the hugely popular tours of the Ashburnham kitchen garden and grounds, and opening up the beautiful lake for wild swimming.
  • Catering – as well as the communal picnic, we will have food available to buy and a locally run bar.
  • The event will run from 12noon – 8pm, with a more family focused daytime session (12-4pm) and a music-focused evening session (5-8pm).
